Milestone: Pre-release of online platform in six languages

The project meeting in Gdynia, 22-25 Feb 2011, ended with reaching a great milestone of the BalticMuseums 2.0 project. After some months of intensive work for all partners, Professor Michael Klotz unlocked the Online Information Platform by simply pressing the ENTER-button. The preparations had not been as simple as that. More than 50 people were involved into realizing the projects' vision of a joint, multi-lingual and multi-media platform for all partner museums. Each museum partner created its own pages for the website and helped its colleagues by translating all other pages summing up to 124. This tremendous workload was coordinated by the University of Szczecin and Stralsund

University of Applied Sciences with the help of an online project management tool. Additionally further interactive elements are being worked on like fascinating panorama tours and a unique fish-identifier. Now broader tests are carried out regarding the usability of the website and final content adaptations until it will be finally released and promoted widely. As for now, the partners celebrated this enormous step forward and are very proud to present the portal in English, German, Polish, Russian, Lithuanian and Chinese. Check the website at www.balticmuseums.net! Feedback is very welcomed to make final adjustments!

Thanks to the team of Gdynia Aquarium for the great organisation of the meeting!
