Advisory Board Meeting in Stralsund

On 25 May during the open day on the little island of Dänholm between Stralsund and Rügen the fourth German Advisory Board took place at the Nautineum, one of the four branches of the oceanographic museum in Stralsund. The members of the Advisory Board, among them representatives from the Nature Discovery Centre Müritzeum in Waren and the Tourist Board Western Pomerania, tested the eGuide-tour after a short introduction into the use of the devices. In the ensuing discussion the participants commended the easy handling of the digital dialling of object numbers and the map for a better navigation in the open area and support in finding the POIs. Especially small and inconspicuous exhibits gain more visitors’ attention because of the interesting stories that are connected to the objects and spoken by sympathetic and authentic speakers. The variety of the presentation of additional information, such as e.g. photos and movies would make the museum visit more interesting. Michael Mäuslein, curator of the Nautineum, expects a higher satisfaction of the visitors implicating increased word of mouth advertising. Finally the members of the Advisory Board discussed future possibilities to improve the eGuide-tour e.g. offering the app in the app store and introducing a GPS-function for a better orientation.
